Mitchell Schneider played a key role in our finding Carol Place. By a long shot, he and his wife, Susan Sarcone, are the best realtors in Northern Virginia.

One of the great joys of life at Carol Place has been having the de la Torre family as friends and neighbors. Check the pictures of the young ones traipsing up and down the stone steps at our family reunion to see the pleasure their landscaping talents added to that mix.

We spent a couple of years looking for someone willing to take on the challenge of repairing a Danish Cord chair. As Aliceann wrote after we found Randy Keeling and he returned the chair to us: "We really appreciate your painstaking care... We had no idea our chair was special when we first began the search for its repair, but now we know the design history. Thank heaven for you and people like you who continue to do time consuming hand work with great skill."

Upon moving to Carol Place, one of our first challenges was to identify a local vet for our Beasties. Success on our very first try. The good folks at Falls Church Animal Hospital, especially Dr. Chamarande, but also all of the doctors, technicians, front desk staff, and office management, are talented professionals, compassionate human beings, and good friends.

Every time Nibbles articulated and climbed onto a lap, every time Havelah pokes her head through the railing to nuzzle someone coming up the stairs, we give thanks to these good folks, especially Havelah's "Momma Connie."

A long time ago, in a land far, far away, Linda was Aliceann's neighbor. Today, we proudly display a half dozen of her superb watercolors.

We came to know Bill some years ago when he married Lorrie, our good friend of many more years. We are really impressed by the range of artistic talents and interests.

When it comes to apparel for infants and toddlers, no one does it better or with a finer sense of humor than Lisa and Todd.

Wonderful, talented people whose very special shop has closed. Its spirit remains with us.

Has got to be doing something right if it produced Robin, Debbie, Jess, Eric, Tom, and Phil.

Has got to be doing something right if it produced Jen, Andy, Sue, Paula, and Aliceann, and was for many years home for Jennie and John.

The house is a beautiful old Victorian with a wraparound porch; the rooms are large and attractively decorated; but the greatest pleasure of a stay at this Oak Park establishment is the time spent lingering over breakfast with Gloria Onischuk.
