Blue Cheese-Stuffed Hamburger

This is not your Father's cheeseburger, though it isn't much more complicated.

We make no mention of buns because we normally serve the burgers adorned only with the usual condiments, but feel free to use buns if you wish.

4 T. fresh chives, snipped 2 t. fresh basil, chopped
4 t. fresh oregano, chopped 1/2 t. chili powder
sea salt and freshly ground pepper to taste 3/4 lb. Gorgonzola or other blue cheese, crumbled
3 lbs. lean ground beef
  1. Combine herbs and spices in a large bowl, mixing thoroughly. Mix in the cheese. Fold in the beef with a minimum mixing.

  2. Shape the beef into 6 large patties, making the center of each about 1/2 inch thick and the outer edge about 3/4 inches thick.

  3. Grill the meat.

6 servings
